Is Android hosting as fast as a PC? expand_more

While modern mobile CPUs are surprisingly powerful, a dedicated PC still offers better raw performance and cooling for large, complex worlds. However, because PumpkinMC is written in Rust, it is significantly more efficient than standard Java-based servers, allowing your Android device to outperform many older PCs or budget VPS setups. For a small group of friends, the experience on Android will feel just as fast and responsive.

What is PumpkinMC? expand_more

PumpkinMC is a high-performance Minecraft server built from the ground up using the Rust programming language. Unlike traditional servers (like Vanilla or Paper) that run on Java, Pumpkin is designed to be incredibly fast, lightweight, and memory-efficient.

Why host a server on a mobile phone? expand_more

Most modern Android devices are equipped with powerful multicore processors and at least 4GB of RAM, making them more than capable of running a lightweight Rust-based Minecraft server. Instead of paying for a VPS or leaving a power-hungry PC running, you can repurpose the hardware you already own for hosting that fits in your pocket.

What are the current Alpha limitations? expand_more

PumpkinMC is currently in early development, meaning core survival features like mob AI, Redstone logic, and the Nether or End dimensions are not yet and/or fully implemented. Because of this, we recommend using the app primarily for creative building projects and social hangouts with friends. As development continues, more features will be added.

Do I need to keep the app open? expand_more

Arm-MC uses a background service to keep your server alive. However, Android's battery optimization might kill the process if not configured correctly. We provide a guide in-app to ensure uptime during idle.

Do I need to port-forward? expand_more

No, you don't need to touch your router settings because we provide free automated tunnels through our own servers. Every time you start a new session, you’ll receive a random subdomain (e.g., happy-villager-36.arm-mc.com) so your friends can join instantly from anywhere. Free tier users can host sessions for up to 2 hours at a time, while our Supporter tier offers unlimited uptime and a permanent, dedicated subdomain of your choice.
